Traverse City's Opera House, A Year From The Brink

Last November, City Opera House officials told the Traverse City community it needed a significant boost in financial support or tough decisions and changes could be coming.

A year later, the number of donors and rental revenues are improved, though the historic downtown venue still isn't pulling its own weight.


Michigan State University’s Wharton Center for Performing Arts took over management of the Opera House in 2010 – a move to bring better programming and stability to the organization.
