TRAVERSE CITY - “No one should be alone for the holidays.”

Sandra
Svec knows the feeling of that sentiment all too well. Growing up with a
single mother in an era where the word “divorce” was almost unheard of,
Svec remembers that holidays were often very quiet affairs.

“My mom and I were always alone on the holidays,” she said.

Then one year, a group of single parents from her church decided to have Thanksgiving Dinner at Svec’s house.
